Camille Charrière on her Suzy bag
The Anglo-French writer and blogger show us how she wears the cross-body Suzy bag
When it comes to styling the Suzy bag in that nonchalantly unstudied French way, nobody does it better than Camille Charrière. She recently collaborated with Bally and WhoWhatWear on a shoot taking her new favourite bag, the Bally Suzy in Rosehaze (or as Charrière calls it, 'a happy mauve colour') from brunch to bar.
Despite spending her formative years in one of the world's great fashion capitals, Charrière's route into fashion was an unusual one. Leaving Paris for London (to follow a boy, no less) she fell for the city's eccentric charm and initially pursued a career in law and finance. She started her blog, Camille Over the Rainbow, as an artistic outlet; a place to curate insights into her sartorial universe and share personal thoughts. Her originality and eye for style quickly led to a job in the fashion industry, working with both Net-a-Porter and matchesfashion.com, where she cemented her love of luxury. But like the best street-style subjects, Charrière knows how to mix things up to keep her nearly-half-a-million Instagram followers interested.
Finding the perfect handbag A front-row regular, Charrière is full of fashion wisdom and insider travel tips, thanks to her jet-set lifestyle hopping from Milan to New York via a quick stop in Copenhagen for a little street-style inspiration. As a result she needs hard-working accessories that can handle her unpredictable schedule. 'My perfect handbag needs to fit my iPhone, Kevyn Aucoin concealer, keys, Kiehl's lip balm and my neon-pink cardholder. It should also be easy to mix and match with anything while making enough of a statement to tie an outfit together – not an easy equation to get right!'
Street style with the Suzy shoulder bag Yet, like the coolest Parisian girls, the Suzy bag appears to do it effortlessly. Mixing high fashion and street style for the WhoWhatWear shoot, Charrière takes an oversized classic trench coat (still the ultimate spring saviour), crosses Suzy's chunky gold chain over it, adds perfectly unbrushed hair and voila: an enviable weekday look. 'This outfit is functional with my most comfy sneakers so I can walk to all of my meetings, but it still has a serious high-fashion edge about it,' she says. To recreate the look, try Bally's Asyia patent leather trainers in muted tones or Avryl's leather lace-ups in magenta if you're feeling adventurous.
